On Monday, March 21, the Site Plan Review Committee (SPRC) of the Arlington County Planning Commission will hold its fourth and probably final meeting on the site plan for the Mazda block (750 N. Glebe Road), between N. Glebe Road and N. Tazewell Street near the intersection of N. Glebe Road and Wilson Blvd.
The project will contain a large grocery store near the Glebe Road/Vermont Street intersection. The grocery store will be about three blocks from the existing Harris-Teeter store on N. Glebe Road.
This will be a major project that will impact the Buckingham Community Civic Association’s area because of its proposed height, bonus density and addition of traffic in the area. The developer is requesting a zoning change that will produce a larger building and less open space than the County’s recommended zoning for the block would permit.
If you are interested in this project and its impacts, I suggest that you attend this meeting. Members of the public will probably be able to make comments near the end of the meeting. The meeting will take place in the large conference room on the ground floor of the Navy League building at 2300 Wilson Blvd., near the Court House Metro Station, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
